I'm looking at buying a P3 1 GHz FCPGA and would like to know whether I should care about the stepping? Is the cD0 out? If not, should I try to specify cC0 instead of cB0?
according to the date in this document, the stepping should be out there though probably very thin on the ground.
you should be able to obtain a cCO stepping without too many problems in view of the speed you require.
get a cCO stepping in preferance to a cBO stepping!
<< Any idea what advantage this has over a cB0 in terms of top speed? >>
if you run it at default speed, there will be no difference!
the newer steppings have little bug fixes & may o/clock a little better.
unfortunately with the 1 gig you will not find a great deal of o/clocking potential as that is almost the max speed the present core is capable of.
Yep, I know that overclocking the P3 1GHz is going to be limited. I just wondered whether the cC0 might give me 1.1GHz while the cB0 wouldn't. But if I keep my BX board, the AGP may hold me back in any case.
