got this samsung 16x10x40. everytime i try to rip a cd in digital mode using musicmatch, it says'error reading cd' and goes into analog mode and rips at 1x. installed my aspi drivers thinking it would help.. it hasnt.. what else could be the cause and what are the remedies?:disgust:
 
What OS are you using? Have you tried updating the firmware and/or the software and applying any patches?
 
Digital Audio Extraction is one of the toughest jobs a CD-ROM can do. The CD must be read *perfectly* to rip the audio correctly. If the errors were ignored you would find your resulting ripped audio file would contain pops and clicks, or even be distorted. Alot of ripping software has error-correction included to try and get around this.

Sorry, but I'm afraid that you may have to accept the fact that your drive is only up to ripping at single speed if at all! I have tried to perform DAE on a Samsung 32X in the past without success.

If you really want to get the problem sorted you will need to get hold of a higher quality drive like a Plextor or Lite-On. You should also find CDRW drives will be better at DAE as the laser is more powerful.
