CD Writer Install causes Safe Mode Boot

I am trying to install a CD-Writer on my sisters computer and when I install any software to burn CDs it causes the computer to boot in Safe Mode only. The OS is Win98se and I don't think the info on the writer matters because this happens even when I install non oem Cd burning software. It comes with Adaptec Direct CD which I personally hate, but I have also installed my copy of Nero on her computer and as soon as you reboot with CD burning software installed it will only boot in safe mode. The compter info is :

HP Pavilion 6535
Celeron 466
64 M
Win98 se

Any help will be appreciated.Info can be posted here or sent to hackboy@netzero.com

hmm...that's weird
So Adaptec's burning software IS installed and DOES work on her computer?

When you restart the computer it doesn't even give you an option to boot into normal mode or safe mode? It boots RIGHT into safe mode?? wtf?

Adaptec isn't installed because it causes a Safe Mode boot only.I have to un-install any burning software in order to get a normal boot. When any burning software is installed I get an option on the boot, but if you choose anything but safe mode then it automatically reboots and you're back at the prompt to choose the boot.Completely BAFFLED on this end.

P.S. I don't know if it matters, but the writer is a USB model, but as I said it does it with any burning software I try.

Sounds like it may be an ASPI problem goto roxio's site and look up issues. I had similar problem with 2000 and found answers on their site.
