CD to h/d or to burner background noise.

Have an AMD 500,win XP(pro),S/Blive,256 ram.
Using the media player or realplayer.I can play and listen to CDs.Once I go to copy to my H/D or burn to another CD ,I get a faint ticking/scratching sound in the background.Really shows up on a burnt CD when playing it in my truck.Using CD clone though makes a perfect copy,no background noise.
But I want to make CDs,not copies🙁
