CD spinup noises coming from speakers

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone happens to know what's going on here. Whenever I insert a CD (including retail and burned copies) into my tray loading Pioneer DVD, I get the spin-up noise not only coming from my drive, but also coming out of my speakers (A high pitched whining). This continues until the drive spins down, and will start up again when it needs to access the drive again. Any suggestions?

I had this problem once..... what i learned was everytime i put in a cd or dvd it would get louder and even if i took it out, it remained louder. What happened was the Wave in the Volume Control was getting turned all the way up. Go turn the Wave part down, Not the Play/Control

Turn it down about 50% So its in the middle. Then turn your speakers up for volume, The Play Control can go up to about 90%.

Good luck,
Dave

Thnks for the help. But, that doesn't seem to be doing much. I might need to reinstall my soundcard drivers. Might give that a shot later.

Do you have the analog audio cable from the dvd to your soundcard? I had the same problem and i discovered that once i removed the cable and turned on digital audio (2k or XP) then the sound went away.
