The maximum transfer rate of PIO 4 is 16.6 MBPS, which is far in excess of the maximum transfer rate of any CD writers. I don't see how a PIO 4 CD-RW would be bad.
PIO uses more CPU than UDMA but Roxio often recommends to set burners to non-DMA for best results. However, if you want to do other things while burning a CD, then UDMA is the only way to fly if you don't have SCSI.
