Greetings!

I am having a major headache with my Creative CD-RW 16-10-40x drive. The drive was working fine until the time I started playing the game Tropico.

Problem :

Everytime I access to the drive after the Windows startup, it auto-reboots!! The computer reboots when I tried the following :

1. I tried to copy my CD songs but once I press the recording button, it reboots!

2. I tried to install my CD game but once I press the install button, it reboots!

3. I tried to burn new CDs, it reboots!

Being an amateur in fixing computers, I tried the following :

a. Change my BIOS settings
b. Unplug the Cd-RW and replug it
c. Change the CD-RW with my older DVD-ROM drive
d. Reinstall Windows 98SE and all the latest drivers for all the major hardwares and cards

But . . . . . to no avail!

Current situation :
- I have sufficient power supply
- The CD-RW was plugged into the Secondary Master (IDE)
- An Iomega Zip Drive is currently plugged into the Secondary Slave
- The OS is just installed and all drivers are new

The Creative CD-RW did not come with a driver, and I can't find it from Creative website. It did run properly for the first 2 weeks.

I'm not sure if it's a virus that can cause this phenomenon. Every other hardware is working just fine. I probably suspect 2 things : a fat worm or something to do with VxD files or any other files which is causing this. I The drive is unplug now.

How can I solve this problem? I can't even plug in my old DVD-ROM drive now. Can someone help me please? Thanks!
