CD-RW problems - some songs sound like the chipmunks!

I don't use the burner much for songs, but my family members tell me that every once in a while a song get recorded at twice its normal play rate.

Anyone know what might be causing this?

Device is a Sony SCSI CDRW about a year old. Problem seems to be fairly new with this unit.
