I've got an old MSI CD RW 48x16x48, I've tried using multiple versions of Nero, and CD Clone but it seems to "freeze" (Nero the program, and my CD RW) whenever I burn anything above 12x speed! My CD-Rs are compatible to 48x. I'm sure (bought it to be sure). I've got my CD RW transfer type to "DMA if Possible", and not PIO. Doesn't seem to make a difference, whats the problem? .. is the CD RW causing this? .. or something to do with my hardware settings? ..

Running a 2500 Barton, on a NF7-S, don't think you need to know that though... >.< More than enough processing power to do this.

Could be dying.. Also check to see if the drive is getting too hot from not enough airflow. Also might want to try blowing the unit out with comressed air and see if that helps.
