CD-RW install/IDE Ribbon Cable Question

Does it matter if I use a 33ATA IDE cable ribbon instead of a 66/100ATA cable ribbon on my cd-rw if its on its own chain? My HD is set as master on the first chain and my cd-rw is the master on the second chain and those are the only 2 drives I have.

It depends on whether or not your CD-RW supports ATA66...almost all don't, but you never know. My CD-RW doesn't, but my DVD-ROM (a Pioneer DVD-500M) supports ATA66 and thus requires an ATA 66/100/133 compliant cable to run at that speed.

<< you should be fine doing that.

that's how i have mine hooked up

Just another vote for your method 🙂

not trying to be pedantic here but your drive doesn't even transfer data at ata33 levels so an ata33 cable would be more than adequate! 😱
