Is there a quicker way to do this. On a HP CD/RW'r it takes me over 2 hrs to format a 1-4x CD/RW disk.
Am now trying to format one on a Lite ON 24X burner and it says it should be done in 50 minutes but that is what the HP said the other night. Is there a faster way to do this? Thanks.

You should be able to perform a quick format that only blanks the TOC, should take less than 2 minutes.

Hi,
I understand the quick format but once you start writing to the disk it then resumes formatting again. Don't think you can get around the format time for the full format. The disk just finished formatting on the LiteOn and it was a lot quicker somewhere between 30-40 minutes....which is fine. The HP 8210 took me over 2 hrs last night. I haven't fooled around muchwith RW's....usually just stick it on a CD/R. Thanks for the quick format info but I did know about that.

I don't know about your software, but I can blank a 2x CDRW in nearly 2 minutes. And after that I just write to it like a regular CDR again.

Blocks total: 335100 Blocks current: 335100 Blocks remaining: 335250
Starting to write CD/DVD at speed 2 in write mode for single session.
Last chance to quit, starting real write in 0 seconds. Operation starts.
Blanking PMA, TOC, pregap
Blanking time: 114.303s

If I remember correctly, EZCD will erase for a few minutes, then you can write like it was new.
Nero, however, seems to only let you do a full format before it'll accept the disc again.
