Does a CD ROM Drive originally have 2048kb of cache?
I used DVD Info to check out my CD RW drive info, and instead of 2000kb it has 2048kb, I understand that is how the bits and bytes work, but....was just wondering...

How does a CD RW Drives Cache work? Is it like CPU cache? Does it store data temporarily and is it unrecoverable? What is its purpose?

Hi, 2000 Kb is the decimal way of saying 2000. 2048 is the binary way. If you are talking binary 2048 is implied. Some folks say 2000 when they mean 2048. Go figure! Jim

Hi, Data transfer is so much faster than the CD Reader or Burner can operate that it improves operation greatly to give the computer a fast place to store data where the slow device can take as it needs it. Jim
