After my old CDRW drive burnt out, the computer store swapped in an Asus CRW-5232A3, but my burning software won't recognize it as a CDRW drive as opposed to a regular CD drive. Would this be a software error, or did they install the drive wrong? How exactly do you configure a CDRW drive in WindowsME?

The software that came with your older burner is probably hard-locked to that particular brand and will not work with another brand of burner. If you use an OEM copy, that's probably the case.

Hi, Odin has it right, but it also applies to other models of the same company. Just happened to me again yesterday. It's OEM software that does it. If you buy a full burner program from the burner software company it will, usually, run most all burners util next year when someone comes out with new tecnology. Jim
