Yesterday, I took out my cd burner and put a second hard drive in it's place. I didn't install or uninstall and software. Then I used my computer all day with no problems. Then today I turn on my computer and my dvd rom and my dvd-rw are not there when I click on my computer. The bios recognizes it fine, and when I right click on my hard drives under "my computer" and click on properties and then click on hardware they are there also.

Does anyone have any opinions on this?

PS. I had the cd roms dissapear before when I installed adaptec easy cd creator and this isn't the problem this time.

under device manager it says windows could not load the devive driver for this hardware. I uninstalled them and let windows automatically reinstall them when I rebooted. It appeared to install correctly but they still aren't there when I click on my computer.

I had the same problem before, came out of no where. I couldn't figure out what the problem was. So I'll be watching this thread for a fix instead of the formatting I did.

I fixed the problem. I remembered that I uninstalled easy cd creator over a WEEK ago. So I did the fix that you are supposed to do when your cd roms dissapear when you uninstall easy cd creator and it worked.

The wierd thing is that my computer worked fine for over a week after uninstalling easy cd creator then yesterday the cd roms dissapeared.

I had a simulation cd-rom that never came back but I'm not worried about that.
