CD-Rom's are not recognized in win2k after installing Easy CD Creator

Hi,
I noticed that someone else had posted the same topic but with nero, and he ended up reinstalling his os. I don't have that luxury so was hoping for some help. I installed Easy CD Creator 3.5a not knowing that it was not a win2k compatible version. I have a Liteon LTD163 DVD Drive and a Pioneer a104 DVD-RW drive. If I boot to DOS they work fine, so I know that it is a problem with the drivers.

Can someone help me please ???

Thank you.

(feeling really stupid...)

You should subscribe to Roxio's (which is the new name for Adaptec's software division) CD-RW mail list and read the archives of that list (it's free). I think that this problem is also covered in Roxio's FAQ. IAC, ECDC 3.5 doesn't work with either DVD-RW or W2k.
If I recall, you have to uninstall ECDC 3.x (you may have to do that manually as the 3.x uninstall program may also not work under W2k--I think there is a procedure in Roxio's support pages) and SHUTDOWN machine. Unhook your optical drives from controller(s) and PS. Reboot and let W2k come up and be sure it shows neither of the drives in its device manager llist. SHUTDOWN again. Reconnect drives to PSU and controller(s). Reboot yet again and drives should be redetected.
In future, never install software into W2k that you haven't thoroughly checked for compatibililty, starting with MS's compatibility lists and software mfr's web site.
