CD-Rom Writer troubles

My friend has a cd writer and he doesn't know which kind he has so he can get the drivers for it and he has got no where calling the company what can he do.. just open up his box and it should say on his drive right?? is that the best way b/c i need to get him some drivers to get it working with win2k.. any suggestions

It should work natively.

All he needs to do is update his cd-burner program to the newest update. It is the cd-burner program that needs to recognize the drive, windows will always recognize an IDE CD-Rom of any type.
