CD-ROM won't access install disk #2>>Keeps crashing

Neighbor just reformatted, and reinstalled WIN98 (First Edition).

Now when she tries to install programs with multiple CD's, it locks up when the 2nd CD is inserted (does this no matter what program is being loaded).

Gets a couple of Blue Screens of Death, then the computer automatically restarts.

AutoInsert works fine, except for when that 2nd (or 3rd) CD is asked for.


I've checked all pertinent settings I think, and have found no obvious problems. Anyone have any suggestions? Her son's gonna kill her if she doesn't get Diablo II reinstalled!

I remember that Baldurs Gate 2 kept giving me problems while installing, and the fix for that was to completely wait for the cd-rom to finish reading before inserting the next cd. Basically, even though the message came up for the next cd, you had to wait for the light on the cd-rom to go off and for the cd to stop spinning completely. Don't know if this will help, but it may be a start.
