greetings, this is my first post on these boards...

i have a question for you fine people out there:

my cd-rom just died... (wont read cd's anymore, just keeps spinning) and i would like to know which is the most reliable, long lasting, and cheap cd-rom out there

i really liked my acer 50x.. i like acer a lot.. i am a thrifty computer shopper and they work great (up till now)... should i stick with acer? the 50x is only $40 bucks..

your info would be greatly appreciated

I like the Sony 52X. Cheap, reliable and quiet. Go to newegg for a a good price.

well, my acer 50x (which i got way back when it was first introduced) has worked great for me, and if you do a search of the posts for "acer 50x" you'll find many positive comments about the drive..so i'd prolly stick with it.
