CD-Rom problems

My Cd-rom has been acting weird the past month or so. Sometimes it refuses to open or will open but shut right away. Sometimes is won't read the cd and it also scratches cd's. Do I just get rid of it and buy a new one. It is two years old so I am not really suprised. Is there anything I can do to help it?
 
What type of cd rom is it? What type of system do you have? Guess you could try re-installing the drivers, but I wouldn't mess around too long as 1 scratched cd can cost double the price of a cd rom. I'd try a Kenwood. Expensive, but so is replacing scratched cd's.
