Cd-Rom Problem??

I have a sony 52x cdrom, here is the problem, the cdrom drive works fine , but when i restart the computer with a cd in the drive the drive will not show up ?? i click on my computer and it's not there? I take out the cd and restart it , the cdrom drives shows up?? wierd can anyone help?
 
You might try checking your Bootup Sequence in BIOS... Then check settings in Control Panel... Then check settings in Device Manager... Then check any Sound Card settings that might have to do with the CD-Rom.
