I have a dual boot of win98se and win2k. I have 2 cd roms one is a cdrw, the other just cd.
Both seem to work fine in win2k, but when I booted into 98 one of the cd roms showed up as removable disk(its the slave).

I tried removing it and reinstalling as cd but when I removed it I got warnig that there were files on the drive??? I went ahead and removed it which seemed to remove display adapter.
I had to reinstall my graphics drivers which required restarts of the computer. During which time the cd rom miraculously became recognized correctly.

I had to restart my computer then it showed up as removable disk again! The bios identifies the two cd-roms correctly but windows 98 doesnt. I should also mention during the reboot when windows did correctly identify as cd-rom, it booted quickly and smoothly.
It boots really slow and quirky when not recognized correctly in windows.

What do I need to do?

I would almost ask why you still have win98? Unless you have software that is absolutely essential and can only run on win98 I would free up the space for win2k.
