CD-ROM locks when inserting a music CD

Isn't this weird.... My CDROM works fine and dandy until I put in a music CD... then BAM! it locks up. (Win98SE)

Suggestions?
 
thats some weird sh!t....is it burned music CD's, because maybe your cdrom doesn't like the CD. Otherwise I have no clue dude!
 
It may be the cd-rom reading an incompatible media such as a cd-r brand it doesn't like...It also could have something to do with a program trying to autolaunch to play the cd..ie winamp, real players, ms cd player, etc...Try unchecking auto insert notification and try to access disc from a program you manually launch...
