CD-ROM drives switched?

I have a CD-ROM on Secondary Master and a CD-RW on Secondary Slave. I just reformated my computer and installed WinXP. Now in Windows, the CD-ROM is listed as drive E: while the CD-RW is listed as drive D:. Any ideas as to why this is?

That sort of thing is common with any new installation or reinstall. You need to simply go back in to Device Manager, and in the properties for each of those drives, change them to the letters you want.
 
Actually I don't see the option for changing the drive letter in the Device Manager -> DVD/CD-ROM drives -> (specific drive) -> Properties.

I have 4 tabs... General, Properties, Volumes, Driver. I don't see settings, and under properties you can only change cd player volume and enable digital cd playback. This is WinXP, not Win2000. Thanks!

I have XP:

start:control panel:administrative tools:computer management (you may need to switch to classic view of the control panel to see this option

then go to the disk management option (in the left-hand pane)

right-click on the drive you want to change & choose "change drive letter & path"

it should be pretty self-explanatory after that

btw, this meathod works in windows 2000 as well.
