I am working on a Compaq Presario computer with a Pentium II CPU. I removed all partitions from the hard drive and booted from a Windows 2000 CD. Told it to format the hard drive with NTFS and proceeded to install the operating system. During the install, it gets past the point where I enter date/time, computer name, install network settings, and then it pops open a Window telling me to insert the Windows 2000 CD so that it can copy a file (it does not tell me what file). The Windows 2000 CD is already in the computer of course, so I just hit OK. The same window pops up. I hit the Browse button to make sure it is pointing towards the CD-ROM drive. When the window with the drive letters pops up the is an A: drive and a C: drive but no D: or E: drive. This computer has a DVD-ROM drive and a CD-RW drive. Why would Windows 2000 suddenly lose track of these drives during an install? Any help is appreciated...
