Hi
I have a computer with a Mitsumi CD-ROM drive and a HP 7500 burner (it's an external burner, connects through the parallel port) and they no longer shows up in My Computer. It started doing this after I installed an old version of Easy CD Creator and installed version 5.02. During the installation it day say something about that there was no supported drives installed but I just pressed OK and continued with the installation (I was using the burner to install from btw) and when the installation was done and I had rebooted both drives was missing.
If I look in the device manager both drives are there but with the yellow exclamination mark and in the status window it says something about the registry database might be corrupted. When I try to update the driver it always use c:\winnt\inf\cdrom.inf for both drives even though I've pointed it to another location, but the driver doesn't get updated (error msg is "file not found").
I've uninstalled Easy CD Creator but that didn't change anything and I've tried to remove the references in the registry to both drives but it's not possible to delete any of them (and yes, I'm logged in as Administrator). Uninstalling the drives and letting Windows install them automatically doesn't change a thing either. Does anyone have any ideas as to have I can fix this very annoying problem without reinstalling?
