Cd-rom digital audio

I jsut got a new sound card that supports digital audio cable for cd drives , it only has 1 input though while i have 2 cd drives . Both my drives aleady support digital audio through the ide cable and I have that enabled for both drives in xp . Should I connect my most used drive with the digital audio cable to the sound card or jsut leave my system how it is with digital audio through the ide . Is it better to use digital audio cables or to have it enabled through the ide .
