CD-ROM Device Driver Troubles

I've tried almost everything, so you guys are my last hope.

(running win2k SP2, and have 2 CD-drives: DVD, CD-RW)

After a system reboot, I got a 'code 19' error on my cd-rw in the device manager. I looked that error up on microsoft's site (q270008), and they told say to remove the "filter" lines in the registry. I misread, and deleted the entire key for "DVD/ CD-ROM drives." Upon rebooting, I couldn't see the drives in device manager, but the one drive still showed up in "my computer." So I used Adaptec's registry key to fix my mistake. Then I got dual 'code 31' errors on the drives saying that "windows cannot load drivers for the device." I've tried all the alternate solutions to no avail. I even reverted the registry to the way it HAD been, and performed a regclean. I do not have any virii, and I never had EZ-CD creator installed. I've also tried reinstalling the drivers for the drives about a thousand times.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot,
Dave
