My CD-ROM will only read Windows compatible CDs. It will not read any Linux based CDs. I have tried both retail and burned ones, neither are recognized, even in Windows. The drive will reconize a Windows boot CD, but not anything else. Ive tried Redhat 7 and Debian. Even with boot disks on those it still does not find the CD. Im sure it finds the CD-ROM but will not recognize there is a CD in the drive. In Windows, the drive still does not recognize a CD is in the drive unless I put a Windows Compatible CD in it, (Win9x, Office, etc)
This is a drive out of a older Gateway pc, 16x.
Any help is appreciated.
