CD-ROM Blaster 52X won't power up - Power Source problem?

My CDROM Blaster 52X doesn't finish powering up when I start the computer (it blinks once, then blinks again for a split second, then its dead - drive bay won't open, IDE detection can't find it, etc.)

This happened to me once before, on the day when I received it in the mail. I somehow managed to get it working by changing the power connection chain (I've got a bunch of stuff connected on the two power threads from my 300w ps - 2 CD-ROMs, including the 52x, a hard drive, an SBLive! LiveDrive, a floppy drive, a hard drive cooler, and 3 case fans).

I have a strong hunch that this CDROM issue is related to the power source being overloaded. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem? Also, how would I go about installing a second power source, if the need arose (there is only one place to connect power to on the motherboard)?

Thanks in advance.

What you have connected to your PS is really not much for a 300 watt. It sounds like you could have a bad connection that is getting blown around by the fan, causing the problem (The delay is the fan spooling up)

Try hooking up your essentials + the CD-ROM, nothing else, and see what it does. Try to go with direct connections if possible, cause pigtails cause problems sometimes. Try and isolate it and see what happens.

<Edit>

Also, installing more PS's is a pain in the ass. If you feel the need to upgrade the PS (Although a 300 watt is PLENTY for what you have...) then get either a better quality and a higher wattage PS.
