my problem that i need help with is that when im just chatting on aim or whatever the win2k "unsave unplugg" screen pops up saying that i disconnected my cdrom, but i never touched anything. im using an epox 8k7a with a 1.4 tb and 256 crucial ddr. do u guys think its my cables? im using the new ones that were supplied with my mb yesterday. help please

EDIT: now it seems to only do this when i play counterstrike... ill exit and see the unplug screen on the desktop

EDIT 2: actually it does it anytime.. maybe after 20+ min of my comp being on

Open up your case and tighten up the axle nuts on that hampster wheel. It's vibration is probably loosening your IDE CD-Rom cable.

Just kidding man ;) Maybe try a different IDE cable.

I had this problem once...... at first I thought there was a pattern to it, but now looking back on it it was probably totally irradic. Sorry I cant be more assistance, though I never did change any hardware, but I have been updating drivers (Via, SP2, etc) and the problem has since dissapeared.

It's probably gremlins, or maybe leprachauns....

I have had CD-ROM's disappear several times in the past in Win98. I just switched them from primary slave to secondary master or vice versa. Or you can take it to CompUSA and have them charge you $100 and claim it was a virus (actully happened to a friend of my mom's) :(
