CD-ROM Audio Cable...what is each wire for?

I have a 3 pin cdrom audio cable with a red, white, and black wire on it...what is each wire for? I was thinking of splicing the cable, hooking it up to a 1/8 stereo jack and using it as an extra audio input...is that possible?

one is for left channel one is for right channel, and one is ground...
LOL...good guess and BTW you don't need to hook them up as were in digital mode 😉

red is right, white is left, black is ground. the other black is ground, or is missing. you may blow the sound card.

I splied my sound card cable in half and made 2 external sound inputs for RCA Inputs. I can plug in my video game consoles into my TV Card and use the Left & Right sound inputs like a TV. Heres a picture of mine

Cool, I wanna photo mouse mat or a mug of that mod...lol 😉

FYI You don't really need those connectors nowadays as everything can be done via the IDE bus.
