i have had cd drives that i couldn't install in older systems because the bios wouldn't recognize it, but this is a new board so it shouldn't be an issue. have you gone into the bios yet and made sure you enabled it, such as having it set up as the slave device on the primary ide or master on secondary? are the jumpers on the back of the cdrom set up in conjunction with the bios and cable setup? if it does show up in the bios at bootup but doesn't work in windows, your will have a generic aspi driver on your windows cd called something like oakcd.sys. use it and mscdex.exe as follows:

(config.sys)
device=c:\oakcd.sys /d mscd0001

(autoexec.bat)
c:\mscdex.exe /d mscd0001

let me know if that doesn't help

Before you do that, have you checked the basics? Such as the Master/Slave jumpers on the Cd-rom, and on the other device ( if there is one ) on the cable? make sure the CD-rom is slaved to anything else on the cable. Make sure that the other device is set as masyer too. Soemtimes if the other device's jumpers are left alone, they will not work. I had that problem with a WD hard drive and a Cd-rom. Make sure one is master, one is slave. ;) If in doubt, unplug everything from the cable, ( ATA cable ) except for the Cd-rom. Then the bios will atleast find it.

Also, try another power connector. there might be a loose connection on it. ;)
