CD-Rom acting weird

For some weird reason, my computer tends not to recognize CD's in the drive until I double click on the drive icon itself. It will then load the autorun as it should have and it also opens an explorer window. Anyone have any idea why this would be?
 
right click the drive in win explorer, properties, and select the autoplay tab.

Otherwise try kellyscorner for more autoplay help
