Everytime i boot into windows i get this error message that pops up in the lower right corner in my system tray area and it says one of my CD-R software's drivers was disabled because it doesnt' work in windows XP or something... I click on the error message and it tells me to update my drivers... well the software it says to update is my Adaptec EZ CD creator but when I go to the link it gives me, Roxio wants me to pay for a new %#@%#@ version of easy cd creator!! no way in hell i'm doing that just for a new OS, so i tried uninstalling it but the error message still pops up every time i boot up! grrrrrrrr these XP error messages are pissing me off!!$$!@$! thanks for any help

Ok so i checked out roxio's website and it has this to say:

Q: I have Windows XP installed on my computer and want to install my Easy CD Creator 4.x, what will happen?
A: You should not attempt to install Easy CD Creator 4.x in Windows XP. When you have a full version of Windows XP or have upgraded to Windows XP and try to install an Easy CD Creator 4.x on your system you will receive an error telling you that some drivers are not supported under XP and to contact Roxio for an updated and supported version. This is not supported and you will still need to take advantage of Roxio's upgrade options by clicking here.

Now by upgrade options, they mean buy their product for $99 bucks or ur screwed!%#%*&%#)!&
Atleast.. doesn't anyone know how to disable the error message from popping up from the system tray?

I have a Mitsumi CDRW and had the same problem with the bundled WinOnCD program. I contact the manufactoror and they agree to send me a new copy of Nero which I havn't got yet. 🙁

The Roxio products prior to version 5 are incompatible with XP. You can get version 4 to work but you will lose other functionality in your system. When I got it to work, then my Pioneer DVD drive would no longer work. I build systems and am now supplying Roxio Easy CD version 5 basic. It is very cheap and with a patch from Roxio, works fine with XP. It doesn't have all the features of the full blown product I guess but does all the basics fine and sure beats the heck out of the XP CD burning stuff. That is so limited I wish they would never have included it. If you need to get the Easy CD 5 I probably could supply it. It would be about $12 plus shipping. Contact me it you need it. rkoenn@cfl.rr.com Hope you get it worked out.

You might want to head over to Microsoft's Corporate Download and give that a shot. I've seen some XP Compatibility Updates for Adaptec's EZ CD-Creator as well as some updates for CD-RW's. Just browse through all the sections. Hope this helps.

BTW: You have to access that link from an Internet Explorer browser and Windows XP.

it'll be on the windows update site for XP as well!
still, I think you'll have to let go of your version of Easy CD Creator for a newer version.

actually, i did install the 5.0 basic version but that damn error message keeps popping up every time i boot. i updated everything pertinent for my windows XP and i couldn't find anything on that corporate downloads website for my burner... it's a plextor 16x... is it under a different manufacturer's name?
