CD reads last disc that was in it...how to refresh?

When I pull a CD out and put another one in...it reads it as if the last disc was still in there. The ONLY way I can get it to snap out of it is to reboot the computer. What is causing this and how do I stop the madness?

That's pretty normal. What you need is to refresh it. USe Explorer, and click on the drive. It should read the CD that you inserted.
 
I would just expand the drive by clicking the plus box. Also, try My Computer. You can also highlight the drive in Explorer and click the Refresh menu item under View.
