CD-R Problem

HELP!

I got a static shock while inserting a CD-R into my scsi Sony CD-R player yesterday. The machine has been on the fritz since. It shows up on WIN ME device manager that all is OK but it will not recognize a cd or cd-r.

Anyone have any ideas on how I might revive it? I desparately do not want to buy a new one. I'm very short on cash.

Does the win98 boot disk have drivers for your SCSI card???? you could try booting from that to see if Cd's work then. That would tell you if it is hardware or software. I've also seen virii cause this problem. Try running antivirus software
