CD-R Longevity: HP Taiyo Yuden variety at Sears?

I found these in the Hot Deals forum here. The description on Sears' website says the life expectancy of these disks is 10 years. [Goto sears.com and search for '62851'].
Given that these are supposed to be Taiyo Yudens, I thought this sounded pretty short. I thought crappy CDs were supposed to last 10-20 years, and that quality ones (like TYs) would last for 70-100 years. See the TDK and Kodak info. CDMediaWorld also likes TY...

The picture on the Sears website isn't for Taiyo Yuden CD-Rs. Taiyo Yudens always have the twist off tops on their spindles. Don't know if this makes any difference...

Anyway, I always heard that the Taiyo Yudens would last about 30 years as long as it's stored properly. The Kodak Ultima's last about 100 as well as the TDK Certified Plus. Of course, nobody really knows for sure since these are all simulated results.

[Edit] By the way, I got these from the B&M Sears by me and they were Taiyo Yudens. VERY happy with the deal!🙂 because of no rebate hassles.
