Cd-R Dye Types

I just downloaded cd-r identifier and was wondering what the difference between short strategy and long strategy are? Also, anyone have a link to the different die types?

What types of cd-r's do you guys prefer.

Well I personally prefer the PSX black media - because it's VERY resiliant to scratches.

However, lots of drives dont like it - the best example is Toshiba DVD-ROMs - NONE of them will read black cds.

Anyway, thats my two cents...

Actually my Toshiba DVDROM (M1202) read a black CDR just fine (CompUSA 16X Black CDR).

Really? that does surprise me, considering Toshiba have it listed as a service advisory.

Is this a desktop DVDrom?
Toshiba desktop components aren't available here in aussieland; so it's possible that it only extends to the laptop range...

I would imagine that the notebook components are identical, being an international company, so if this DVDrom is from a portable, then you just shot my theory to bits 😉
