no difference, really.

the quality of dyes does not depend on the burning, it depends on how long the CDRs themselves last through the test of time and use.

My personal experience and information is that green is worst, followed by gold, then blue, then silver. But to be honest, the quality of the manufacturer, and how you treat the cds, is more important then the color.

frankly, the first ones were green. with gold foil and blue dye.

then the silver foil and blue dye, blue colored discs came out. Most are these.

then a lighter colored dye (almost clear with a greenish\yellowish platinum color) with silver foil came out.

it does not matter what color it is. the factory matters. go to http://www.cdmediaworld.com for details...

the colour of the surface differ bcos the cdr is made from different dye. in my opinion, the worse is light green, followed by light blue, blue, silver and gold. The best one is gold (Kodak Ultima Premium gold). bad cdr could not be burnt in high speed. so far I tried to burn a CD-Audio with 4 speed, any CDR except the gold one do not play properly on old CD audio player and discman without antishock. But all of them plays fine if you burn them with 2 speed.
