CD-R burner question?

The classic Plextor vs. Lite-On thread. I'm just making sure it's worth my while to buy a Lite-On 52x Cd-R ($72 CDN) over a Plextor 48x Cd-R ($89 CDN after a $45 Mail-In Rebate.)

I have a spindle of 40x Memorex CD-R's and I want to make sure it's quite good with either drive.

I've also never actually used a Mail-In Rebate so I don't know how that works either.

Any help?

P.S. I don't want to buy another spindle of a CD-R's 'cause here in Canada they cost a heck of a lot more then in America. I also want to be able to transfer the data on the CD-R's to a DVD later on when I decide to buy one so if these CD-R's can't do that, then that is the only valid reason I'll go out and buy some other ones.

If you don't mind waiting on the rebate, get the Plextor.

I'm a little vary of them, being a Canuck myself, so I'd lean towards the LiteOn myself. Never had a problem with my 241032A.

Not sure what the CDN conversion rate is, but I just got a Plextor 48X from Googlegear for $59 (US) after $30 MIR
