i got a sony cd walkman recently and also one of those cassete adapters so i can play my cds through my car stereo without having to buy a new car stereo system. but the volume is really soft, even when i turn both the cd player and the car stereo volume to the maximum level. has anybody else had a similar experience? how do you fix this? thanks.

Turn the adapter the other way.. no joke!

Edit: then again the tape adapter to cassette deck does lose a lot of signal so the volume loss is usually there anyway.. just make sure it's not because of the adapter's orientation in the deck.. I used to do this all the time and the adapter would have to go in a certain way to be at a normal volume.. and keep the CD Player's volume as high as it'll go.. also X-Bass or whatever helps raise the volume level too but it adds some muddy bass tho :frown: also be sure it's connected to the line-out jack and not the headphone jack or maybe it's the other way around

You have it going out of the "line out" jack on the cd player, right? I'm fairly sure all discmans have it. It's a constant volume output, so adjusting hte bass boost, volume, etc on the cdplayer won't make a difference in the output (and for the same reason, it's not where you want to plug in headphones).

Other then that, try a genuine sony car adapter. I've had three Sony adapters, and all worked well (*knocks on wood*) for years now. My buddy bought a generic one, and it worked for about a month, then the cable had to be wiggled just right to get an acceptible volume level

I agree with the above post...

Make sure it's in the right jack. (Line Out/headphone)
