Basicly I need to know if there is a list of CD-RWs that can burn more then 80 Min on. Can the Philips 8x or 12x do that? Also what disks can I use that can be overburned. I there a way to know how much a disk can handle without actualy burning the data on it or doing a full burn test? I have TDK 12 80 min CDRs Made in USA, can they overburn?

Thanks

my plextor 12/10/32 can, with Nero. I don't know if any particular media can overburn, most all can, but after that 80min no guarantees, just like overclocking. You can get a few minutes if you absolutely have to, then set Nero to check the disc afterwards for errors.

Read the article here. For the amount you can overburn different CDs read here.

The article doesn't have the current CDRW's listed but you can get an idea of how the brands perform. But basically to be successful it is best to overburn at 1x or 2x speed.

Edited: Note that they are using 99min blanks to run these tests. You won't be able to get that much on a standard CD.

I've been able to get as much as 83 min on a 74 min CD using Nero 5 and Verbatim 74 min cds. Check out the guide on Tom's Hardware site about how to "overburn". Make sure you don't go any higher than 2x speed, and make sure your burner support overburning. In general, I think 80 min cds can probably do 90 mins, but it depends on the burner, the cd media, etc. Haven't tried to overburn on a cd-rw, but it should be the same as a cd-r.
