CD in/out on AIW Radeon???

Has anyone used the CD in/out connectors on the AIW Radeon?? They are 2 internal sound connectors. The manuel gives very basic/vague information. What are these used for???

They're pass thru connectors to route from your CD analog output thru your AIW to your sound card. This allows the MMC(ie TV) to output
the audio to the regular CD input on your sound card. It's just for the convience of saving the aux inputs on your sound card for other things...you'll of course, need special audio connectors/cables which are generally available at PC shops. BTW if you don't use them, you'll
have to jump across from output on back of AIW card to the aux input on the back of your sound card with the ATi supplied cables. This ties up that aux input for other things, so I use the CD in/out connectors myself...

I have the sound blaster live! value w/ several internal audio inputs. Would it make sence to just hook my cd directly to cdin on the soundcard and the aiw radeon to the aux input on soundcard also leaving my external line in on my soundcard available for something else and leaving the cdin on the aiw radeon unconnected??? Sounds like this will work.

That will work, but why not save the int/aux/input on soundcard for somthing else since you had 2 scare up those funny audio cables?
Also, why add another slider 2 your soundmixer? If that is all U have I still suggest going CD/AIW/soundcard(CD/in) & keep it simple.

But what U suggest makes a lot of sense if your CD has a digital output. In that case, connect dig/CD/out to dig/CD/in on soundcard. Then connect CD/out on AIW to int/CD/in on soundcard, if you have a second CD(RW?) connect that to the CD/in on AIW. This also saves
int/aux/in on soundcard for something else...
