it actually takes more than 1 hour to write a CD (650 or 750 MB) what are you using to burn the cd? nero? roxio? windows xp's software? how many MB are you burning to a CD, or to a DVD when you do that? are you using windows xp? how many minutes does it take to copy 500MB from your one 40GB HD to the other 40GB HD? what IDE cables are you using? are they the 80wired ones that are thin, or the older 40wired ones where the wires in the cable? do you have both HD's connected to the same IDE cable connected to the primary IDE port, one drive as master, one as slave. and both CD drives to the same IDE cable that is connected to the secondary IDE port, one cdrom as master, one as slave? when did the process of copying get that slow, has it always been? is the copying faster when your antivirus is disabled? is anything else slow to you other than just copying files?
