Hello
I am new to this forum
I recently upgraded my system to:
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 754
Gigabyte K8NS Pro 754
1x 512 of DDR400 RAM Kingston
1x Seagate 80Gb 7200 RPM 8Mb cache SATA drive
AIT Radeon 9800PRO

So far my system has been working well for most of the time. But sometimes when the CD-ROM was working really hard to try to read a CD, the pc just restarted by itself. Also when I tried to watch a DVD with my Liteon 16x DVDRW, the speed seemed to be so slow, I had to wait for almost 30 seconds to see the image. I am using PowerDVD 5.0 to watch DVDs, the problem runs smoothly until I put a DVD in the drive, then it starts to choke.
I need some help. I dont know what the problem is. I've installed all the latest chipset drivers and WINXP SP1. My DVD and CD ROM both are connected on a same IDE cable, I tried connecting them to IDE1 and IDE2, but didnt help.

Two questions:
1. Should I disable the IDE UDMA option in the BIOS if I have no HDD installed on any IDE ports?
2. If I have a SATA HDD, should I connect my Optical storage devices to IDE1 or IDE2?

Any help is appreciated!
