CD/DVD Playback Problems

Every time I play a CD or DVD, the audio stutters, and the video freezes for a few seconds. Any ideas as to what's causing it? I've updated the latest firmware, and tried multiple CD's and DVD's with the same result. The burner is a Rosewill RD-162 (It says Aopen on the external metal plating of the drive).

I have a gig of Corsair Value. I haven't tried it on extracted files. The drive will install games and programs fine, but any type of DVD or music CD causes it to stutter/stop.

I had a similar problem, turned out that I was running my new DVD drive through an ATA 66 IDE cable. Upgraded to a ATA 133 and the stutter went away.

I checked, and it's a 133 cable, so that's not it. The drive also did this in another computer with a different cable. Thanks for your reply.

Okay, just tested further. MP3's and Video that I have on my hard drive work as well as they always have. I ran Power DVD 5 and enabled DMA mode with that program, but it says the drive failed to run DMA mode 😕 It doesn't support DMA mode?

try enabling it thro bios...think there's PIO mode something like that...well check what options you have in your BIOS for your drive
