Man CD-R deals keep getting slimmer and slimmer. I haven't seen many FAR deals on any in a while. I guess I'll wait till Best Buy has Fuji's on sale again since I'm down to less than 300. I mean if you're actually going to pay for CD-R's you might as well buy some good ones. I think there's a conspiracy here. All these stores want to make money until they have their Black Friday sale this fall.

I agree with you, and if you are indeed looking for 4x media, check out this deal that I just posted:

Not sure if we are going to continue seeing all of the great (like FAR) deals on CDRs
going forward. The two large Taiwanese companies, CMC Magnetics and Ritek, seem
to have raised prices to improve their profitability (in 2002 they flooded the market at
a loss). The story says cost is somewhere just below $0.16 per disc. When those
two companies (who have 70% market share) drop prices, the higher quality Japanese
companies (particularly Taiyo Yuden) seem to lower prices to stay in the game. Now
they are getting pricing up 30% higher than last year. You can read all about it here:

but the bottom line is that we may not continue to see all of the great deals we were getting
previously. There have been warnings like this coming for about a year now, but the deals
do seem to be slowing down somewhat, so maybe this time they are true. For a while there
I was actually passing up on the Fuji sales (had something like 1000 blanks in the closet), but
now I figure it is time to move on them as they appear.
