OK I am talking about the labels you print and stick to the CD / DVD disc. I noticed someone online complained about them causing their disc to warp. i thought that was weird but this morning my girl asked me to back-up a disc for her. Well both my DVD rom and dvd burner made a weird noise when I put the disc in and the burner could not read it to copy it. I took the disc out and put it on a falt surface and it was warped.

Is this a common problem with labels? or just SOME brands? As she just got a label system and labeled about 100 DVD disc. (CD Stomper)

I had a few problems here and there, not too often, but I just switched to white top inkjet printable discs, makes it so much easier.

I've always heard people complain about that but I've never had a problem. Only problem I've had is when I used to use cheapo crap discs.

But I think those LightScribe DVDs are really cool and I might get one of those with my next DVD drive purchase. Just too bad you have to get special discs and not many people make them yet.

If you want to do a lot of printing of labels, invest in an Epson R200 printer and some inkjet printable media. No worries then about labels screwing up your media.

Exactly, thats what I do and in the long run I find it saves money over buying labels.

I haven't had any problems, but I put labels on mini-dvd's then cut them down to size.

No problems (DVD) but not much experience with them (yet).

edit: NO problems with CD labels over the last 8 years.

OK, I just got a e-mail back saying they, the cd label makers, know their labels warp disc. In fact they have come out with a new label. But here is the contect of their e-mail...

Thank you for contacting CD Stomper. CD Stomper has developed a label
made
specifically for DVDs. Our new DVD Labels are made of an innovative
film
label designed to work in DVD players and drives.

Paper vs. Film? What's the Benefit?

CD Stomper DVD Labels are designed with a special film material that
was
created for single sided DVDs. Unlike film, paper absorbs moisture in
the
air which may warp discs. Since DVDs are more sensitive than CDs,
changes
in DVD disc shape may result in read errors when labeled DVD discs are
played in DVD drives and players.

Of course their OLD sets still say good for CD/DVD's. So the 150 disc I have labeld might be on their way to warp land. :|
