How is data organized on CDs and DVDs? I've heard of ISO 9660 formats and Red Book and Orange Book, but none of that really means anything to me. As far as I understand, a CD is filled with a string of cuts in it that are circularly wraped around the center of the disk. If this is so, then all the sector and subchannel data is just interperated by the CD/DVD reader as it looks at the stream of cuts. Is this correct, or is there some special method to denote sectors, subchannel data, and advanced copy protection?
