My cd/dvd drive did not come with a 4 pin wire so i took it of an old computer that i have... I know where to plug it in on my cd/dvd drive, but could anyone help me and tell me where to plug the other end to... i herd from someone that i should plug it into my sound card but i wanted to doulbe check, and if so, what is the name of the place where i plug it in, thank you.

you are correct, you do plug it into the sound card. On my sound blaster audigy 2 zs the port is labeled spdif.
Welcome to the forums!😀

Are we talking about the analog audio cable you attack to the optical drives?

That's not needed anymore, and if you did have it, SPDIF isn't where you would want to connect that. If it's a 2-pin digital audio cable (which I've never actually used), that would seem to make sense.

Anyways, if it's the analog cable, that's no longer needed, as the audio data can be sent along the data cable connected to the drive.

well, after i build my pc, i tryed playing dvd's and i got an error, so my friend told me i needed that 4-pin wire, i will install the dvd software again and ill get the error for you.
